This page explains what data Pela collects and how it's used. This is a general overview, not a substitute for legal advice.

The short version

• We collect only what we need to run your account, keep it secure, and give you your chats on all your devices.
• We don't sell your personal data.
• Your messages are processed by AI service providers so that Pela can answer you.
• You can export your chats, delete your account, and ask us about your data at any time.

What we collect

Account data. When you create an account, we store your username, a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), your display name, and your date of birth (used only to verify you meet the minimum age of 12). Optionally, you can add an email address for account recovery and sign-in security, and a profile picture.

Content you create. Your chat messages are stored so your conversation history is available across your sessions and devices. Attachments (images and files) you send are stored on our servers so they stay available in your chats and across your devices. If you use friends and direct messages, those messages and the friend connections are stored too. If you use image generation or voice features, the prompts or audio you send are processed to carry out your request.

Security and technical data. To protect accounts and the service, we process technical data such as your IP address (for rate limiting, lockouts after repeated wrong passwords, and abuse prevention), a hashed device identifier used to limit how many accounts can be created from one device per day, and the time you were last active (used for features like showing friends whether you're online). If you use QR sign-in, we briefly store the approximate country, browser and operating system of the device that requests the sign-in so you can check it before approving; this data is deleted within minutes. We also keep error logs that help us fix problems.

Emails. If you add an email address, we use it to send you verification codes, sign-in codes, password-reset codes, and security messages that are needed for your account. We don't use it for advertising.

Support and moderation data. If you contact support, we store your message, your name, and your email address so we can answer you. If a message is reported, we store the report, the reported message, and the reason. If an account is restricted, we store the reason and duration.

Discord link. If you link your account with Discord, we store your Discord username and Discord user ID so the link can work.

Why we collect it

To run the chat service, keep your account secure, verify your age, prevent abuse and spam, respond to support requests and reports, and improve Pela during its early-access phase.

Legal bases (for users in the EU/EEA)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to provide the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), to protect the security of Pela and prevent abuse, which is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)), to comply with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)), and — for optional things like adding an email address — based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

Who processes your data

Our servers. Pela's accounts, chats, and files are stored on servers operated by Pelvara in Germany. Your chats and attached files are protected by our security system, stored per account, and only accessible through it.

AI service providers. To answer you, Pela sends the content of your request — your message, the conversation context needed for a reply, and any images or files you attach — to third-party AI services. Voice input and spoken replies are processed by AI services as well, and image-generation prompts are sent to an image-generation service. These providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Please don't send information you don't want processed this way.

Email delivery. Emails (such as codes) are sent through an email delivery provider.

Other users. Some information is visible to other users by design: your display name and profile picture, whether you're online (to your friends), your messages in direct messages and Lounge rooms, and your presence in Lounge rooms you join.

Authorities. We may disclose data if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of users or Pela.

We don't sell your personal data and we don't use it for advertising.

How we protect your data

Passwords and sign-in codes are stored only as one-way hashes. Sessions use signed tokens that can be revoked (for example, when you change your password, other devices are signed out). Repeated wrong passwords or codes lock the attempt, requests are rate-limited, and QR sign-in tokens expire after a few minutes and can be used only once. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

How long we keep it

Your chat history and account data are kept until you delete them. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account. After deletion, your username stays reserved for 3 days before it can be used again by anyone, including you, and a deleted account may remain restorable for a short period before the data is permanently removed. Sign-in, verification and reset codes expire after minutes, QR sign-in data is deleted within minutes, and technical logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Support tickets and moderation reports are kept as long as needed to handle them and to prevent repeated abuse.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at contactpelaai.site@gmail.com. Where the GDPR applies, you also have the right to restrict or object to processing, to receive your data in a portable format (you can export your chats in the app under Settings → Data & Privacy), and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to a data-protection supervisory authority.

Minors

Pela may be used starting at age 12. If you believe a child under 12 has created an account, please let us know so we can remove it. Parents and guardians can contact us at any time to ask about or delete a child's data.

Local storage

Pela also uses your browser's local storage to keep your settings, your sign-in session, and a cached copy of your chats and images on your device. This is needed for Pela to work and isn't used for advertising or tracking across other websites. You can remove it under Settings → Data & Privacy → Data on this device, or by clearing your browser data.

Pela Games

Pela Games (pela-ai.vercel.app/games) are small games that run in your browser, including text games like Word Fall where you type words. What you type while playing stays in your browser: it is only used to play and is not sent to us or saved. Settings and personal bests (for example difficulty, sound on/off and your best scores) are kept in your browser's local storage on your device.

For games with a leaderboard (Slope and Word Fall), your score and difficulty are sent to our servers. If you're signed in, your display name and profile picture are shown next to your score on the leaderboard, where other players can see them. If you're not signed in, we create a random guest ID that is stored on your device and show you as "Guest" with a number. In Pela Football online matches, your display name and your inputs are sent through our servers to your opponent for the length of the match; we don't save the match afterwards. The games don't use advertising or tracking. Lights Out, Pair Match and Slide Puzzle work fully on your device.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account or using Pela, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Information & Privacy page. If you don't agree, please don't use Pela. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Pelvara Technologies ("we", "us").

2. What Pela Is

Pela is a free, browser-based AI companion. It includes AI chat (text, images and files you attach, voice input and spoken replies, image generation), optional Discord account linking, a friends list with direct messages, and virtual "Lounge" spaces (chat rooms with interactive furniture like billiards, foosball, and arcade games) for hanging out with other users. Pela is currently in early access — features, availability, limits, and behavior can change, break, or be removed with little or no notice.

3. Age Requirement

You must be at least 12 years old to use Pela. If we learn that someone under 12 is using the service, we'll remove their account. Parents/guardians of users under 18 remain responsible for their use of the service. Depending on where you live, you may need your parent's or guardian's permission to use online services — it is your responsibility to check this.

4. Your Account and Security

You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for everything that happens under your account. You must provide accurate information (in particular, your real date of birth, used only to verify the age requirement above). Don't share your password, sign-in codes, or QR sign-in approvals with anyone, and only approve a QR sign-in if you started it yourself on a device you trust. Tell us immediately at the contact address below if you think someone else has access to your account.

One person may not maintain more than one account to evade a ban or restriction, and we may limit how many accounts can be created from the same device or network.

We may send you emails that are necessary to run your account, such as verification codes, sign-in codes, and password-reset codes. We do not use your email address for advertising.

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account. After deletion, your username is reserved for 3 days before anyone — including you — can reuse it.

5. Acceptable Use

When using Pela, you agree not to:

• Use the service for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, bully, stalk, or harm others
• Attempt to bypass, exploit, probe, or disrupt Pela's systems, security, rate limits, usage limits, or the AI's safety guardrails
• Use Pela to generate or share content that is sexually explicit involving minors, promotes violence or self-harm, glorifies terrorism or hate, or is otherwise illegal in your jurisdiction
• Share content that is hateful or discriminatory, or that targets people because of their origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics
• Share other people's private information (doxxing) or content you have no right to share
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or age
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) against Pela, or resell/redistribute access to Pela, without our written permission
• Overload the service on purpose, for example by sending large amounts of requests or files
• Abuse the Lounge, direct messages, or chat rooms to harass or spam other users
• Try to access another user's account, data, or messages

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our discretion.

6. AI-Generated Content

Pela's responses and generated images are produced by AI models and can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, biased, or misleading. Don't rely on Pela for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, or other decisions requiring a licensed professional. You're responsible for how you use the information and images Pela gives you, and for checking that your use complies with the law and with other people's rights. The same prompt can produce different results, and generated content may resemble existing content by coincidence.

7. Your Content

You keep ownership of what you type or upload to Pela (messages, images, files). By sending it, you give us the non-exclusive, worldwide license needed to store, process, and display it back to you in order to run the service (e.g., to keep your chat history, send it to AI service providers for a response, and sync it across your devices). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we must keep a copy for legal reasons or for a short, technically necessary period (e.g., backups). We don't sell your content or use it to train models on other users' behalf.

You promise that you have the rights to everything you upload and that it doesn't break the law or these Terms.

8. Friends, Messages, and the Lounge

Pela lets you add friends, send direct messages, and meet other users in Lounge rooms. What you write there can be seen by the people you send it to, and others may copy or screenshot it. Be respectful. You can report abusive messages in the app; reported messages and the context needed to review them can be looked at by us to decide whether rules were broken. Please don't share passwords, financial details, or other sensitive information in messages or Lounge rooms.

9. Moderation and Enforcement

To keep Pela safe, we may review reports, remove content, limit features, put an account on a temporary timeout, or ban an account permanently — with or without prior warning, depending on how serious the violation is. If your account is restricted, the app may show you the reason and how long the restriction lasts. If you think we made a mistake, contact us at the address below and we'll take another look; we can't promise a specific result or response time.

10. Discord Integration

If you link your Pela account to Discord, we store your Discord username and user ID to make the link work. You can unlink at any time with /pela unlink in Discord. Some account actions that you can do through Discord commands (for example changing your password) may require confirmation by a code sent to your verified email address. Your use of Discord itself remains subject to Discord's own terms — we don't control Discord's platform.

11. Free Service, Limits, and Fair Use

Pela is free. To keep it free and fast for everyone, we may apply limits — for example, limits on how many images you can generate, how many requests you can send in a short time, how large files can be, or how much storage your account can use. We may change these limits at any time. Attempts to get around limits (for example with multiple accounts) are a violation of these Terms.

12. Third-Party Services

Pela relies on third-party services — for example AI model providers, image generation services, and email delivery — to work. Your content may be sent to these providers to carry out your requests. We're not responsible for third-party services or for their availability or behavior. See the Information & Privacy page for details on how your data is handled.

13. Our Intellectual Property

Pela, its name, logo, design, software, and all content we create belong to Pelvara Technologies or its licensors and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use Pela as intended. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or distribute Pela or parts of it, except where the law explicitly allows it.

14. Availability and Changes to the Service

Pela is provided free of charge, "as is." We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability — we may take the service down for maintenance (including putting it into maintenance mode for all users), fix bugs, or make changes without prior notice, especially during early access. You're responsible for keeping your own copy of anything important — you can export your chats in the app under Settings → Data & Privacy.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Pela at any time, with or without cause, particularly for violations of Section 5. You may stop using Pela and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example 7, 13, 16, 17, 18, and 19) stay in effect after termination.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

Pela is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or reliability, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pelvara Technologies is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Pela, including reliance on AI-generated content, loss of data, or interruptions of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intent, for injury to life, body, or health, or any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.

18. Your Responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover damages and costs that we suffer because you broke these Terms or the law while using Pela (for example if your content infringes another person's rights).

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without affecting the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.

20. Severability

If a part of these Terms turns out to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

21. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Pela evolves during early access. We'll update the "Effective date" above when we do, and for major changes we may also tell you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

22. Pela Games

Pela Games are small games we offer for fun, including text games like Word Fall where you type words. Play fair: don't use bots, scripts, exploits, or other tricks to fake scores, and don't try to disrupt other players' matches. Your display name and score may appear on public leaderboards, and your display name is shown to your opponent in online matches such as Pela Football. We may remove scores, reset leaderboards, or change or remove games at any time. Please keep names and anything you type in games free of insults, hate, and unlawful content — Section 5 applies here too. Games are provided "as is," and details on data are in the Information & Privacy page.
